La Habra Heights City EmblemLa Habra Heights is a gorgeous, naturesque community loated 25 miles southeast of downtown Los Angeles. The Heights features large sprawling hillside estates, grasslands, woodlands, citrus groves, trails, riding, hiking and fantastic views. If you're looking for a luxuriously natural and rural setting, La Habra Heights might fit your needs.

The Heights incorporated in 1978 in an effort to preserve our entirely residential, rural atmosphere. The community consists of 6.2 square miles and 5,712 residents. Volunteerism is alive in the Heights with residents staffing the 60+ year old Fire Department and working to preserve the unique scenic beauty and wildlife through several community organizations. Demographically, the community is well educated, mid-to-upper income, and politically conservative. Citizen participation in the City planning and governmental processes is very high, founded largely on a strong sense of community identification.

La Habra Heights Demographics

As of the census of 2000, there were 5,713 people, 1,887 households, and 1,590 families residing in the city. The population density was 355.7/km² (922.0/mi²). There were 1,951 housing units at an average density of 121.5/km² (314.9/mi²).

Of the 1,887 households 34.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 74.0% were married couples living together, 7.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 15.7% were non-families. 11.8% of all households were made up of individuals and 4.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 3.03 and the average family size was 3.29.

In the city the population was spread out with 24.5% under the age of 18, 6.8% from 18 to 24, 23.4% from 25 to 44, 30.4% from 45 to 64, and 14.9% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 42 years. For every 100 females there were 99.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 98.2 males.
