With all the tragic wildfires taking place in California at this time it is more important than ever to utilize this week to ensure your family's safety.

1. Create a map of your home detailing all windows and doors.

2. Ensure two points of exit from every room.

3. Make sure all entryways and windows are easily able to open;  freeing the area of clutter and obstacles.

4. Test all your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors to ensure they are in good working order.

5. Designate an outside area for all family members to meet once they have left the home.

6. To avoid going back into the home, detail your plan for evacuating pets.

7. Practice your fire safety plan with all members of your family and meet at your outside location.

8. Make sure all family members know how to contact the Fire Department.

9. House numbers need to be visible from the street, especially at night, and should not have anything blocking them.

10. Keep your home free of any debris that can help facilitate a fire.
